World Book Day: Book Drive, Cake Sale, Bookmark Sale

WORLD BOOK DAY CHALLENGE:  DAY ONE

AT THE END OF DAY ONE, THE BOOK COLLECTION LOOKS LIKE THIS.  PRETTY GOOD GOING WHEN THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS ONLY MADE IN ASSEMBLY YESTERDAY! THANK YOU HERSCHEL GIRLS AND STAFF FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

REMEMBER THAT IF EACH PERSON IN THE SENIOR SCHOOL BRINGS THREE BOOKS, THE BOOKERY WILL HAVE ENOUGH BOOKS TO OPEN A NEW SCHOOL LIBRARY!
BOOK DRIVE ENDS TENTH OF MAY

CAKE SALE

Library monitors held a cake sale today that has raised close to R600.  Proceeds will be used to buy books to give to The Bookery, which sets up school libraries where schools have none and (importantly) provides personnel to manage the book collections.

BOOKMARKS

Bookmarks made by library monitors are being sold in the library at R5 each with the same goal in mind of supporting The Bookery.

  1. Samantha Hayward is a runner up in the Random House Struik James Patterson Short Story Competition for her short story – Broken Wings. The judges, Jay Heale and Marj Brown, loved it and both agree that she is very talented! As one of the runners up, she has won R5,000 worth of books for our school library.

    well done samantha! :)
